Kemps

A card game where teammates try to signal each other that they've got four of a kind — without letting the other team catch on. It's all about inventing and reading secret signals under pressure.

How to Play

  1. 1

Split into pairs (teams of 2). Each team secretly agrees on a signal that means 'I have four of a kind' — a gesture, a word, a facial expression.

  2. 2

Deal four cards to each player. Place four cards face-up in the center of the table.

  3. 3

Players simultaneously (and frantically) swap cards from their hand with the face-up center cards. There's no turn order — just chaos.

  4. 4

When a player has four of a kind, they give their partner the pre-agreed secret signal.

  5. 5

If the partner spots the signal and yells 'Kemps!', the team scores a point.

  6. 6

If the opposing team catches the signal and yells 'Cut!' before the partner calls Kemps, the signalling team loses a point.

  7. 7

Reshuffle and deal for the next round. First team to reach an agreed score wins.
